Good productive days outnumber the bad. The creativity is strong and lasts longer. I am positive and ready. Rereading “The War of Art” 10 years later has led to breaking through and understanding the demon creative blocks within and surrounding me.

“Resistance loves ‘healing.’ Resistance knows that the more psychic energy we expend dredging and re-dredging the tired, boring injustices of our personal lives, the less juice we have to do our work.”

  • I think of running out of juice, sobbing at night after receiving news of a grant denial.
  • I think of balancing the checkbook and missing a deadline for an art show because I didn’t have the funds to enter.
  • I think of no funds to replace an air conditioner in the Phoenix summer heat, and thus leaving no money for a short, necessary vacation.
  • I think of being the sole income and the stress that means on what we can and can’t do.
  • I think of losing the love in my life to kidney failure.

I am done with the past. I have too much left to do in the years ahead. What happened before — let it be. I am a new me, even after decades. Watch out…..
